  • **ACTION NEEDED: A Note From The Principal**

    Dear Parent,

The state of Kansas is facing large cuts to education. These cuts are due to revenue declines, caused by the governor's income tax cuts. Our governor is proposing a system in which local school districts are being asked to raise funds for their own schools. This would negatively impact KCKPS as the city of Kansas City, Kansas does not have the assessed valuation that other cities have. This greatly reduces our opportunity to raise funds.

The answer, force our state to fund adequately the current education finance system by reversing the income tax cuts that caused this massive deficit. We are asking all families to take a moment and call our state representative and let them know that, "it is our expectation that the state correctly fund our current financing formula for education and reverse the income tax cuts that led to this deficit."
Our students deserve this and our state owes it to its constituents to finance education.

    Please call:
Representative Broderick Henderson (785) 296-7697 or
    Senator David Haley (785) 296-7376.

Our voice MUST be heard! It's for our future - our students!
