Family Advocacy classes are a little different this year. Teachers are using the home room time each day not only to check in with
the students and help them with their needs, but also to teach various good character traits.
Each week the focus is on a different character trait. Students learn the definitions, what the trait looks like and what it isn’t;
and why it is important to embody this character trait. Some of the topics discussed are self-image, respect, responsibility, honesty
and trustworthiness, caring, citizenship, diversity and acceptance, bullying, conflict resolution, and anger management.
As an added incentive, teachers are on the lookout each day so they can recognize students who portray good character traits. When they
see a student taking actions that demonstrate the good character traits, they reward the student with a Tiger Token. Tiger Tokens can then
be used to purchase items from a Tiger Token store periodically during the school year.
