Northwest Encourages Participation in Extra-curricular Activities
At Northwest Middle School we encourage students to get involved in smaller group activities. This allows you to develop invaluable skills and lasting friendships. Don't know what you want to get involved in? Check it out . . .
  • If you enjoy sports, you may join track in the spring of your 6th grade year or any of the other team sports in your 7th and 8th grade years.
  • If you enjoy helping to decide how the school will be run, then Student Council or the Principal's Student Advisory Council are for you.
  • Students who enjoy writing and taking pictures may want to sign up for yearbook or newspaper.
  • If you enjoy expressing yourself in creative ways, perhaps Drama Club, Drill Team, or Oratorical Contest are for you.
  • If you want to meet and chat with students of the Christian faith, check out Club 121.
  • If you want to connect with community organizations, look into KU Talent Search and Books Not B.A.A.R.S.
  • If you just want to challenge your mind in fun ways, perhaps chess club and robotics are for you.

  • If you still haven't found what fits your personality, talk with one of the teachers or the principal about what you may be interested in. We want this to be a successful school year for you and getting involved in the life of Northwest can be a big part of that. Please feel free to contact
    Dr. Mitchell at 913-627-4000, or
    e-mail him at your convenience.
